The Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST), Professor Christian Agyare, has held discussions with JP Trustee Limited on opportunities to deepen collaboration in research, innovation and institutional development.

The discussions took place when a delegation from JP Trustee Limited paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor.
Leading the delegation, Chief Business Officer of JP Trustee Limited Joshua Larbi said the visit was to congratulate Professor Agyare on his appointment as Vice-Chancellor and reaffirm the company's commitment to supporting his vision and priorities for the University.
“We are here to affirm our commitment to supporting your vision and your key priorities. We will commit to whatever we can to support you,” he said.
Larbi highlighted the longstanding relationship between JP Trustee Limited and KNUST, saying a significant proportion of the company's workforce were graduates of the University.
“About 90 percent of our workforce are alumni of KNUST,” he said. “This relationship has also created opportunities for KNUST students and graduates through internships and graduate trainee programmes, with some subsequently joining the company as staff.”
He said the company was ready to align its support with the priorities of the new University administration and contribute to initiatives that would advance KNUST's development agenda.
Professor Agyare welcomed the delegation and acknowledged JP Trustee Limited's longstanding relationship with KNUST and its contributions to the University.
He called for the partnership to be translated into more visible and sustainable initiatives that would directly benefit the University community.
The Vice-Chancellor proposed the establishment of a JP-supported Centre of Excellence as a potential avenue for deepening the partnership, particularly in Information Technology and Engineering.
“As part of our vision, we are going to establish Centres of Excellence that could serve as a platform for students, experienced faculty and industry practitioners to collaborate on innovative projects, research and solutions, with opportunities to translate ideas and research outcomes into practical applications and commercial ventures,” he said.
Professor Agyare encouraged JP Trustee Limited to consider the proposal as an opportunity to expand collaboration beyond its existing areas of engagement, particularly in research and innovation.
“We want JP’s presence to be seen on campus. As part of your CSR activities, take this into consideration and let us work together,” he said.
